Sobre a raça
The Perdiguero de Burgos is one of Spain's traditional hunting dogs, associated with the province of Burgos in Castile. It descends from old Spanish pointing dogs and was used on partridge, hare and even deer, valued for its endurance in hot, dry country. Numbers fell sharply in the 20th century before breed enthusiasts restored it.
It is heavier and calmer than many pointers, with loose lips and long ears. At home it is quiet and affectionate, and it settles well with family life as long as it gets daily exercise and some work for its nose.
Sabia que…?
Its Spanish name, Perdiguero de Burgos, comes from perdiz, the partridge it was traditionally used to hunt.
