Opieka
Charakter
Very loyal, protective and courageous; affectionate within the family but suspicious and potentially aggressive with strangers. It is not a social dog with unfamiliar people or animals.
Ruch
Daily walks and supervised exercise in a secure area; tracking and structured work suit it, but avoid busy public places.
Pielęgnacja
The short coat needs only a weekly brush; check the loose skin folds for irritation.
Szkolenie
Needs an experienced handler, early and extensive socialisation and consistent, calm leadership throughout life.
Zdrowie
Known concerns include hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat and some heart conditions. Ask the breeder for the parents' hip and elbow results.

O rasie
The Fila Brasileiro developed in colonial Brazil from dogs brought by Portuguese settlers, likely including mastiffs, bloodhounds and bulldogs. It was used to track and hold large game and runaway cattle, and to guard farms. It moves with a distinctive camel-like pace, and its loose skin is a breed hallmark.
This is a demanding breed. It is devoted and gentle with its own people but naturally hostile towards strangers, which its standard describes as typical. It needs an experienced owner, very secure property and lifelong management; several countries ban or restrict the breed.
Czy wiesz, że…?
The Fila Brasileiro's standard lists "ojeriza", a deep distrust of strangers, as a characteristic trait of the breed.
