Serious and hard-working outdoors, calm and devoted at home. Can be reserved with strangers and stubborn when on a scent.
운동
Needs long daily exercise and regular scent work or hunting to stay balanced.
그루밍
The harsh coat sheds dirt well; brush weekly and remove dead hair occasionally by hand.
훈련
Independent and driven; train recall early and patiently, using food and play.

Little health data is published for this rare breed, which is considered hardy; hip screening of breeding dogs is a sensible precaution. Ask the breeder for results.

견종 소개
The Istrian Coarse-haired Hound comes from the Istrian peninsula in Croatia, where it was bred alongside its short-haired relative. Its harsh, slightly bristly coat protects it in the stony, thorny scrub of the region, and it is somewhat bigger and heavier than the short-haired form.
It is used mainly for fox and hare, and sometimes for wild boar, working with a deep voice and great persistence. Most dogs live with hunters. At home it is usually quiet and attached to its owner, but it is not a natural city dog and needs plenty of time outside following its nose.

The Istrian hound comes in two FCI-recognised coat varieties, short-haired and coarse-haired, each with its own standard.
