Hooldus
Iseloom
Calm, affectionate and steady, with a serious expression and a playful side. It may be reserved with strangers and likes to bark or howl.
Liikumine
Needs about an hour of steady walking a day with time to sniff. Scent work and gentle retrieving suit it.
Karvahooldus
Brush the coat a few times a week and keep ears clean. Light trimming around feet and ears keeps it tidy.
Koolitus
Can be stubborn, so use patient, reward-based training. Work on calm behaviour if barking becomes a habit.
Tervis
Hip dysplasia, heart conditions, back problems, ear infections and the metabolic disorder PDP1 deficiency are known in the breed. Ask the breeder for hip, eye and heart results and the PDP1 result.

Tõust
The Sussex Spaniel was developed in the county of Sussex in southern England in the late 18th and 19th centuries. It was bred to work slowly through thick undergrowth and to give voice while hunting so the hunter could follow it.
It is a rare breed with a small population, and it came close to vanishing during the Second World War. At home it is usually calm, affectionate and somewhat serious, though it has a playful side with family. It needs daily walks but not intense exercise, and many are vocal. Keeping it slim helps its back and joints.
