Calm, friendly and even-tempered, with a soft side. It is usually polite with strangers and other dogs.

An hour or more a day of walking, running and nose work suits it. Tracking, field work and long country walks are ideal.

The short, dense coat only needs a weekly brush. Check ears and the folds of loose skin from time to time.
训练
Cooperative and fairly easy to train with gentle, consistent methods. It follows scent readily, so practise recall early.
健康
Hip and elbow dysplasia are the main known concerns; the eyelids should also be checked because of the loose skin. Ask the breeder for hip and elbow scores.

关于该犬种
The Old Danish Pointing Dog traces back to the early 1700s in northern Jutland, where local farm dogs and tracking hounds were combined into a sturdy pointer. The breed came close to disappearing in the mid-20th century before Danish enthusiasts revived it, and it is still rare outside Scandinavia.
It is heavier and slower-moving than many pointers, with a strong nose and some loose skin around the throat. Owners describe it as calm, friendly and uncomplicated in the house. It still needs daily exercise and enjoys tracking and searching, but it is usually less intense than the more racy pointing breeds.

Its Danish name is Gammel Dansk Hønsehund, which literally means old Danish bird dog.
