Friendly, devoted and cooperative, often playful and a bit clownish. Usually good with children and other dogs.

Needs one to two hours of activity daily. Field work, retrieving, swimming, tracking and hiking suit it.

Brush weekly and hand-strip dead hair a few times a year. Sheds little; keep the beard clean.

O pasmi
The Korthals Griffon was created in the late 19th century by Eduard Karel Korthals, a Dutch breeder who did much of his work in Germany and France. He aimed for a methodical, close-working gundog with a harsh coat that could point and retrieve in water and thick cover. France holds the breed's FCI patronage.
It is affectionate, sociable and keen to work with its handler rather than range far. At home it is usually calm and cheerful. Its rough coat sheds little but needs some care, and its energy calls for daily outdoor activity.
