O pasmi
The Basset Fauve de Bretagne comes from Brittany and descends from the larger Grand Fauve de Bretagne, a now-extinct hound once used against wolves. Its short legs and tough coat made it ideal for hunting rabbit and hare through gorse and bramble, and it is still used for that in France.
It is a cheerful, active and sociable dog that often adapts well to family life. It is quicker and livelier than many bassets and enjoys a busy day outdoors. Like any hound it is ruled by its nose, so secure fencing and a lot of sniffing time are important.
