Temperamento
Cheerful, affectionate and sociable. Enthusiastic in water and cover, relaxed indoors once exercised.
Exercício
Needs one to two hours a day, ideally with swimming. Retrieving, field work and long walks suit it.

Brush the curly coat a few times a week to prevent mats and check the long ears often, especially after swimming.
Adestramento
Willing and fairly quick to learn with positive, varied training.
Saúde
A small population with few documented problems; hip dysplasia and ear infections occur. Ask the breeder for hip and eye results of the parents.

Sobre a raça
The Pont-Audemer Spaniel comes from the Risle valley in Normandy, around the town of Pont-Audemer, where it was used on waterfowl in marshes. The breed was close to extinction after the Second World War and was rebuilt with careful crossing, including Irish Water Spaniel blood.
It is a lively, good-humoured dog with a distinctive curly topknot and long curly ears. It loves water and work, and at home it is affectionate and easy-going. It remains very rare, so finding a puppy may take time.
