Temperamento
Loyal, brave and affectionate with its family; protective and wary with strangers. Often dominant with other dogs and strongly driven to chase.
Exercício
Needs plenty of daily exercise; tracking, scent work, running and structured play suit it.
Cuidados com o pelo
The short white coat needs a weekly brush; check the skin for irritation and use sun protection on sensitive areas.
Treino
Intelligent but strong-willed; needs early socialisation and consistent, confident training.
Saúde
Congenital deafness linked to the white coat is a known concern, along with hip dysplasia and skin allergies. Ask the breeder for the parents' and litter's hearing (BAER) and hip results.

Sobre a raça
The Dogo Argentino was developed in the 1920s in Córdoba by Dr Antonio Nores Martínez, who aimed to create a brave and resilient dog for hunting wild boar and puma. He used the old Fighting Dog of Córdoba crossed with several breeds, including the Great Dane, Boxer and Pointer.
Today it is still used for hunting in Argentina and is also kept as a family guardian. It bonds closely with its people, but its prey drive and dominance with dogs require careful handling. It is banned or restricted in several countries.
Sabia que…?
The Dogo Argentino was the first Argentine breed recognised by the FCI, in 1973.
