Sobre a raça
The American Water Spaniel was developed in the 19th century in the Great Lakes region of the United States, especially Wisconsin. Hunters needed a small dog that could flush game, swim in cold water and retrieve into a canoe or small boat.
It is still a rare breed, mostly kept by hunting families. It is affectionate with its own people and can be reserved with strangers. It needs regular exercise and something to do, and it loves water. Some can be vocal or a bit stubborn, so consistent training and early socialisation help it become a good companion.
