Opieka
Charakter
Calm, friendly and eager to cooperate, it is devoted to its family and usually polite with strangers. It is alert and can be vocal.
Ruch
An hour or more daily of walks and activity suits it; herding, agility, obedience and hiking are all good outlets.
Pielęgnacja
The weather-resistant double coat needs brushing a few times a week and more during the moult. No trimming needed.
Szkolenie
It learns readily and enjoys working with its owner; positive, consistent training works well, including a quiet cue.
Zdrowie
Hip and elbow dysplasia and progressive retinal atrophy occur in the breed, and a DNA test is available for the prcd form of PRA. Ask the breeder for hip, elbow, eye and DNA results.

O rasie
The Lapponian Herder was developed in Finnish Lapland from the herding dogs of the Sámi, who used them to gather and move reindeer. When snowmobiles took over much of that work, breeders kept the dogs going, and the breed was recognised in Finland in the mid-twentieth century.
It is a steady, willing dog that is easy to live with for an active family. It is friendly and gentle, generally good with children and other dogs, and less independent than many Nordic breeds. It still has herding instincts and a working dog's need for activity, and it tends to bark when excited.
Czy wiesz, że…?
Unlike breeds that drive livestock silently, the Lapponian Herder often uses its bark while working reindeer.
