Priežiūra

Temperamentas

Alert, playful and somewhat independent, it is affectionate with family and wary of new people. It is curious and inventive.

Judėjimas

Daily walks and play of about 45 to 75 minutes suit it; it enjoys climbing, scrambling over rocks and exploring varied ground.

Kailio priežiūra

The short, dense double coat needs a weekly brush and more during shedding. Check its extra toes and nails regularly.

Dresūra

Lundehunds can be stubborn and are known for slow house training, so patience, routine and rewards are essential.

Sveikata

The breed is prone to Lundehund syndrome, a digestive disorder that affects how the gut absorbs nutrients and protein; its severity varies and it can appear at any age. Ask the breeder about the health history of their lines.

Apie veislę

The Lundehund comes from the remote islands of northern Norway, where it climbed cliffs and crawled into narrow burrows to bring out puffins for food and feathers. When puffin hunting ended, the breed nearly vanished, and today's population descends from a very small number of dogs.

At home it is cheerful, curious and independent. It is not a clingy dog, but it is friendly with its people and can be reserved with strangers. House training is famously slow, and the breed's digestive sensitivity means diet matters. Because the gene pool is narrow, breeders cooperate closely, and puppies are rare.

Ar žinojote?

Lundehunds have at least six toes on each foot and can tilt their head back until it touches their spine.
