Priežiūra
Temperamentas
Friendly, gentle and eager to please. It is usually sociable with people and other dogs and rarely suspicious.
Judėjimas
Needs at least an hour of exercise daily, with something to carry or fetch. Retrieving, swimming, obedience and scent work suit it.
Kailio priežiūra
Brush the double coat a few times a week, more during heavy seasonal shedding. Tidy the feathering and feet occasionally.
Dresūra
Very trainable and motivated by food, toys and praise. Start early with impulse control and loose-lead walking.
Sveikata
Hip and elbow dysplasia, inherited eye disease, heart problems and a relatively high cancer rate are known in the breed. Ask the breeder for hip, elbow, eye and heart results and DNA results.

Apie veislę
The Golden Retriever was developed in the second half of the 19th century on the Guisachan estate in the Scottish Highlands. The aim was a gentle, capable retriever that could work in rough country and water.
Today it is one of the best-known family dogs, and with good reason it is often described as friendly and easy to live with. It still has real working drive, though, and a young Golden can be bouncy and mouthy. It needs daily exercise, training and company, and its thick coat sheds a lot. Keeping it lean helps its joints.
