Affectionate, lively and curious, with a strong work drive. It is alert and can be reserved with strangers.
Hreyfing
Needs about an hour or more of activity daily plus mental work. Scent work, truffle searching, nosework and swimming suit it.
Feldhirða
Comb through the curls weekly to prevent mats and clip the coat every two to three months. It sheds very little.
Þjálfun
Intelligent and eager to work with you; reward-based training and nose games keep it engaged. Teach a reliable 'leave it' early.
Heilsa
Hip and elbow dysplasia, some eye conditions, juvenile epilepsy and the neurological condition Lagotto storage disease are known in the breed. Ask the breeder for hip and elbow scores, eye results and DNA results.

Um tegundina
The Lagotto Romagnolo comes from the Romagna region of north-east Italy, where it was a water retriever in the marshes. As the wetlands were drained, local people put its nose to use finding truffles, and that remains its speciality today.
It is affectionate, alert and curious, and it needs both exercise and mental work. A bored Lagotto may dig or find its own projects. It can be watchful with strangers and noise-sensitive if not socialised well. Its dense curls shed little but mat easily, so regular combing and clipping are needed.
