A fajtáról
The Kangal Shepherd Dog comes from the Sivas province of central Turkey, named after the Kangal district. For centuries shepherds have used it to protect sheep and goats from wolves, bears and jackals. It is a national symbol in Turkey and is used in conservation programmes in Africa to protect livestock from cheetahs.
The Kangal is calm, observant and loyal to its family. It is independent and protective, and needs room to roam within secure fencing. It suits owners who understand livestock guardian dogs.
