על הגזע

The Istrian Short-haired Hound is one of the oldest hound breeds of the Balkans, developed on the Istrian peninsula of Croatia. It is lighter and finer than its coarse-haired relative, with a short, glossy white coat marked in orange.

Hunters value it for fox and hare, which it follows with a persistent, high-pitched bay. It is mostly kept as a working dog in Croatia and Slovenia and is rare elsewhere. Owners describe a gentle, affectionate dog at home that becomes intensely focused once outdoors, so it suits people who can give it real work or regular scent activities.

הידעתם?

Its white coat with orange markings makes it easy for hunters to spot in the stony Istrian scrub.
