Iseloom
Kind, sensitive and loyal, often a little reserved with strangers at first. It is attentive and keen to cooperate. It can be vocal and does not cope well with harsh handling.
Liikumine
An hour or more of daily walks and play suits it. Obedience, agility, rally and herding are all good outlets.
Karvahooldus
The short double coat needs a weekly brush and more during seasonal shedding. No trimming is needed.
Koolitus
Learns readily and responds best to gentle, reward-based methods. Work on calm greetings and limit nuisance barking early.
Tervis
Collie eye anomaly and sensitivity to certain drugs (MDR1) are well known in the breed, and hip dysplasia and degenerative myelopathy also occur. Ask the breeder for the parents' eye results and DNA test results.

Tõust
The Smooth Collie shares its roots with the Rough Collie as a Scottish farm dog of the 19th century, and the two were long bred together. It differs mainly in its short, dense coat, which made it a practical drover's dog.
In the home it is affectionate, gentle and quick to read its people's moods. It is usually good with children and other pets, and it likes being included in daily life. It needs regular exercise and something to think about, but it is generally less intense than working sheepdog lines. It is uncommon, so finding a puppy can take time.
