Hooldus
Iseloom
Calm, friendly and balanced at home, energetic and persistent when hunting. Generally good with people.
Liikumine
Needs long daily outings, ideally including hunting, tracking or off-road walks on a long line.
Karvahooldus
The short, dense coat needs a weekly brush; shedding increases twice a year.
Koolitus
Cooperative but independent on a scent; early recall training and patience pay off.
Tervis
Hip dysplasia occurs, and merle-to-merle breedings must be avoided because of hearing and eye problems. Ask the breeder for results.

Tõust
The Dunker was developed in Norway in the 19th century by Wilhelm Dunker, who crossed local hounds with a Russian harlequin hound to get a hardy dog for hare hunting. It is used singly, finding hare and following it with a steady voice through forest and snow.
It is a medium-sized, well-built hound, black or blue merle with tan, often with white markings and sometimes blue eyes. Most Dunkers live with hunters, and the breed is rare outside Norway. At home it is calm and affectionate, but it is a working hound that needs real outdoor time.
Kas teadsid?
The breed is named after Wilhelm Conrad Dunker, a Norwegian officer who developed it in the 1800s.
