Needs steady daily walks of moderate length rather than hard running; sniffing walks and tracking suit it.
Karvahooldus
Brush the short coat weekly, check and clean the long ears and skin folds regularly, and wipe drool.
Koolitus
Slow to obey and easily distracted by scent; patient, food-based training works best.
Tervis
Glaucoma, elbow and back problems, ear infections and skin fold irritation are among the known concerns, and dogs should not be overweight. Ask the breeder for results.

Tõust
The Basset Hound descends from the low-set hounds of France, where short legs let hunters follow on foot. The breed as we know it was refined in Britain from the late 1800s, giving it more bone, weight and loose skin.
It is placid, affectionate and usually excellent with children and other dogs. It is also stubborn, vocal and food-driven, with a nose that can override everything else. Living with one means managing its weight and back, cleaning ears and skin folds, and accepting some drool and a deep, carrying bay.
