Povaha
Bright, loyal and playful, usually close to its family and somewhat reserved with strangers. It is alert and makes a good watchdog. It may try to herd children and other pets.
Pohyb
About an hour or more of daily activity with training or games. Agility, herding, frisbee and trick training are excellent outlets.
Péče o srst
Brush the double coat a few times a week and more during shedding season. Trim feet and ears as needed.
Výcvik
Learns quickly and loves a job. Positive, varied training and early socialisation give the best results.
Zdraví
Eye diseases, hip dysplasia, patellar luxation and MDR1 drug sensitivity are known in the breed, and merle-to-merle matings risk deafness and eye defects. Ask the breeder for the parents' hip, eye, patella and DNA results.

O plemeni
The Miniature American Shepherd was developed in the United States from the late 1960s by breeding small Australian Shepherds. It was first known as the Miniature Australian Shepherd, was renamed after gaining recognition with the American Kennel Club, and was provisionally accepted by the FCI.
It is lively, affectionate and keen to learn, with the same herding drive as its larger relative. It adapts well to different homes if it gets daily exercise and training, and it is usually devoted to its family while reserved with strangers. It suits active people who want a smaller sporting and family dog.

The breed was registered as the Miniature Australian Shepherd until its name was changed to Miniature American Shepherd in 2011.
