عن السلالة
The Coton de Tuléar is named after the port of Tuléar, now Toliara, in southern Madagascar. Its bichon-type ancestors probably arrived on ships, and it became a favourite of the island's well-off families. The breed became known in Europe and North America from the 1970s.
Cotons are cheerful, affectionate dogs that love to play and stay close to their people. They usually get on with children, visitors and other pets and adapt well to most homes. The soft, cottony coat sheds very little but mats easily, so regular brushing is part of the routine.
