Oor die ras
The Small Swiss Hound was developed in Switzerland in the early 20th century by breeding smaller dogs from the Swiss Hound varieties, partly to suit hunting grounds where long-legged, fast hounds were not wanted. It mirrors its larger relative's four varieties: Bernese, Jura, Lucerne and Schwyz.
It is a lively, friendly and affectionate dog that fits more easily into family life than many hounds, while still having a keen nose and a loud voice. It enjoys long walks, scent games and company, and it needs secure fencing and patient recall training.
